Feeling Overwhelmed Update

I’m feeling LESS overwhelmed!  MY plate has gotten smaller:

Prune twelve fruit trees (50 – 70 hrs)  - ONLY ONE LEFT

Pick up all leaves in yard – DONE

Move two remaining fruit trees – DONE

Spray weed killer on hillside -

Replant front bed (40 – 60 hrs) -

Plant Vegetable garden – ALMOST DONE

Weed & edge backyard – ALMOST DONE

Fertilize backyard & front yard – DONE

Treat for ants and snails in backyard & front yard – DONE

Reseed front & backyard – FINISHED ON APRIL 5th

Pull all income tax records together – DONE

I think I’m ahead of the game, this season!

My new mantra:

I FEEL CALM

I FEEL CALM

I FEEL CALM

Knitting “Socks” Update

After forty-eight hours and five tries, my sock is three inches long.  I’m so proud!

Knitting “Socks”

Who would have thought making socks was so confusing.  I’m using four needles and in the two hour class my single sock is one-half inch long, maybe less.

Now I know why I need the lessons.

I wanted to take a sock knitting class because I saw this sock:

I think I’m going to need a few more lessons!  At least, my friend Stephanie is taking the class with me!

Poetry Submission

I got brave again and submitted three poems to “Women’s Press” today.  Cross your fingers for me!

Poetry Class

Jim was absent from our second week of class, so I will be reporting on it.

For this weeks class, first we read one poetry book, of our choice, with the following guidelines:

Single author; no anthologies

Small paperback book (20-80 pages)

Our second assignment was to write a poem imitating the author we had just read.

At first, I tried an Edgar Allan Poe book which was a big mistake.  The “old English” was a killer.  I got through eight pages without screaming, but some cussing.  I had to sit in front of the computer using dictionary.com to help me TRY to understand his poetry.

Then I tried, WHITE PINE, by Mary Oliver which was a GREAT improvement.  However, it still wasn’t my cup of tea.  Finally, I wrote my poem:

SUNDAY AFTERNOON

The sun drenched day floated by on clouds of white

Blue birds and robins sang softly just out of sight *

Quiet meows and llama steps

Small and large beggars’ wepts

Then the wind carried my papers and books

Leaving me unable to get enough looks
