Charley Says …

I found a “Charley Says”… on Under the Paw website: http://littlecatdiaries.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

These U.K. Public Information Films are wonderful.  Do we have anything like them in the U.S.?  I remember listening to cartoons with my nephews, but I don’t recall anything like these.

I went searching for more on YouTube and put several below.  A lot of them are old, but still very relevant.

Update on “Technologies for Writers”

I have a first draft of the PowerPoint presentation.  Sue Hardy helped me yesterday with some of the aesthetics of the program.  Here’s the first two slides:

There are some problems with the slides, i.e. the sound not working and the red border not making a box on the second slide, etc.  But, I will work these out with the help of my PowerPoint guru, Sue Hardy.

Long Nails

I’ve never been able to grow long nails UNTIL I started using Nailtiques.  Check these out:

Na

It’s so easy.  Paint your nails once a day.  Nail polish dries in two minutes.

Technologies for Writers

I’m working on a three part project for next year.  First, I’m writing up a presentation on giving classes for SLO NightWriters.  Second,  I’ll pitch it to the board, and finally I set up a class schedule and oversee the classes.

The project is on “Technologies for Writers.”  I wish I had thought of the title, but it came from Susan Tuttle, president of SLO NightWriters.  I wish I could say I was writing the whole presentation myself, but KritiqueKritics (Christine Taylor and Jim Leonard) are helping me.  And, I am so glad I’m NOT teaching all the classes.  I can say, the idea was mine, though.  It takes a group to bring anything good to fruition.

I think this project will help every member of SLO NightWriters and I’m looking forward to it.

After I get this project up and running, I have two more in mind for next year.  I’m coloring this green because the projects have to do with money–more about that in a future blog.

She Let Me Pet Her, FINALLY

I started trying to tame her three years ago last June.  Once when she was high on catnip she let me pet her for a few seconds—before she bit me.  I call the little lady, Grey Tortie.  She’s longhaired and has the softest fur I’ve ever touched.

It’s not as if I was expecting her to let me pick her up, turn her over, and hold her like a baby, while she purred and cooed her contentment.  I didn’t expect to feed her for almost three and an a half years before she decided it was okay for me to touch her, either.

Today, she jumped straight to:  “I LOVE YOUR TOUCH,  SCRATCH HERE,  AH THAT FEELS GOOD.”

Cats, especially feral cats are never dull!

Fall Author Dinner Review

SLOCRA Fall Author Dinner, Friday November 13th

Maybe I’m a skeptic, but I wasn’t excited to go to this dinner.  I thought the food would be terrible and the event would be boring.  I WAS WRONG!  Sue Hardy did a remarkable job on the event.

The dinner turned out to be quite nice–the food was very good. The children’s authors were very good speakers.  Two-three of them sang and one played the guitar, which surprised me.

I enjoyed meeting a few authors and hearing what they write about.

SLO NightWriters November Meeting

“I feel that luck is preparation meeting opportunity.”

Oprah Winfrey’s well known quote always stuck in my mind.

What an opportunity we had at this month’s meeting to hear and see the latest in Social Media. Christine Taylor is going to help SLO NightWriters appear very lucky, if we follow her suggestions.

Christine reprised her presentation on Social Media.  I didn’t think she could top last year’s presentation.  I was wrong.  This year’s talk entitled “Social Media – Writer Style” was off the charts.
First, she had better accommodations–a media room filled with computers and and the latest presentation equipment.  She was able to use a computer hooked up to the Internet and present real world examples.  Second, she personalized this talk for her audience–a group of writers.  Third, she updated her presentation to include any changes from last year.  Finally, she brought back her own style of communicating.  She’s soft-spoken, articulate and animated.  She’s an amazing woman, writer and speaker.

We were given the opportunity to see how to “create a buzz” or “prepare a platform”, now let’s use next year to prepare ourselves for the future. Let’s all be lucky next year!

Have you seen this rug for sale anywhere?

Has anyone seen this rug for sale, anywhere?  I bought it at T.J. Maxx, in Santa Maria, and it was the last one.  It is 2′ x 3′ and it’s a bathroom rug.

Please leave a comment if you know where I can get a second one for my other bathroom.

Thanks for the help!

Fall Author Dinner

This coming Friday I will be joining several children’s authors at the SLOCRA “Fall Author Dinner.”  Some of the authors are Alexis O’Neill, Teri Sloat, John Archambault, Greg Trine, Sherry Shahan and Destry Ramey.
